The album presents part of the collection of carpets from the collection of the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art. Today, it is one of the largest in Ukraine and consists of over 1,200 monuments of the 18th – early 21st centuries. The main centers of carpet weaving are represented, their regional differences and artistic and stylistic features are indicated. The work of leading professional artists and masters of carpet art is presented.
The Ukrainian carpet, having gone through a long and complex historical path of its formation and development from purely ornamental to plot-thematic and abstract-decorative compositions, has retained its originality and is an important component of national artistic culture.
