This is a vintage E.D. Bullard Hard Boiled aluminum full-brim hard hat that saw active service with the US Forest Service on the Gallatin National Forest.
The front displays a Gallatin National Forest shield decal reading Safety Pays, flanked by two Smokey Bear Prevent Forest Fires oval decals. The rear bears a printed Standard Fire Fighting Orders shield, form 5100-16. The side clip loops retain their original canvas strap tabs.
The interior is stamped E.D. Bullard Co., S.F., U.S.A. with the Hard Boiled logo. The sweatband label reads The Original Safety Hat with a Sausalito, CA address, indicating earlier production. The original cloth suspension cradle is intact. The brim interior is scratched with USFS and 1-11-07, the retirement date of the USFS employee who carried this hat. The number 12 appears nearby, likely a crew or unit designation.
Condition is honest field use: heavy paint chipping across the crown, black scuff marks, surface oxidation, and one small crack at the brim edge. Photos show the exact item.
Ships carefully packed in a new sturdy box with heavy-duty bubble wrap within one business day of payment.
