Ford Escort XR3i

I bought this car from auction a few months ago after it had been stored away in a dry shed for a number of years. The plan was to recommission it properly, enjoy it for a little while, and then move it on to its next owner.

Since owning it, the following work has been carried out:

- New roof
- New tyres
- New fuel filter
- New air filter
- Various gaskets replaced
- New sump pan gasket
- Rocker cover replaced
- Spark plugs
- New Battery
- Timing adjusted
- MOT until March 2027
- All wiring checked

I have also had a garage to do anything it needed and check the entire car over, which they did.

During the MOT process it required some welding work, which was professionally completed by a well-known local garage at a cost of £500. The MOT station commented on how good the repair work was. And stated nothing else welding wise needed to be done it was £500 because the garage did it for me out of hours that evening after it failed the MOT and I wanted to take it to Southend that weekend for the Old Fellas event and didn’t want to miss it! And they was kind enough to squeeze me in.

The car now runs and drives perfectly and is a real pleasure to use. A real head turner and lots of compliments on how clean it looks when out!  The paintwork is in excellent condition overall for its age and pretty much flawless apart from the odd tiny mark here and there, only noticeable if you are looking very closely.

The driver’s seat could do with a little TLC and the speakers aren’t the best, but you can definitely hear them just not very loud.

Overall, it’s a very honest XR3i that has had the money spent in the right places and is ready to be enjoyed.
