These are grass made by native descendants in Central America probably following passed on 

methods for steadying round bottom vessels. These were made within recent times and I bought 

multiples for steadying Precolombian round bottom vessels on shelves in my former gallery(now 

closed!). The one offered here is. the 5.5  inch Outside and 3.5 inch inside. (The other smaller 

one is offered in another listing. Which would be bette for your piece depends on the shape, 

curvature and size. Again these were made by descendants of the Precolombian cultures of the 

Guatemala and El Salvador area. In one of my many visits to El Salvador before the war made it 

impossible to return I saw larger rings like this being used to carry plastic water bottles on their head!
