Set of four vintage Colonial Williamsburg Restoration slipware deep oval bowls, featuring the traditional hand-combed yellow and brown decoration inspired by early American redware pottery.

Each bowl bears the impressed Colonial Williamsburg “CW” cipher mark on the base. This mark identifies pottery produced for Colonial Williamsburg’s Restoration reproduction program, and collectors commonly use this cipher along with the form and decoration style to date Williamsburg slipware pieces to the mid-20th century production period (circa 1950s–1970s).

These bowls are handcrafted earthenware, and the slight variations in the combed slip pattern and glazing are typical of handmade slipware production.

Condition:

Overall excellent vintage condition with no cracks or structural damage. Two bowls each have one very small rim chip (fleabite) as shown in photos. Minor fleabites are typical and expected with aged handmade earthenware and do not affect display or use.

The bases retain the original hand-brushed clay slip finish applied during manufacture; the visible brush pattern on the bottoms is part of the production process rather than wear.

A beautiful matching set of Colonial Williamsburg slipware bowls that display the character, craftsmanship, and historical styling associated with Williamsburg’s reproduction pottery program.
