Description

A type of Lifelike doll that was used in plays at the end of the Edo period.

There is an ink calligraphy of "Marukichi'' on the back of the chest. It is thought to be the name of a character in the play.

Made of paulownia with chalk finish. The head and front part of the chest are integrated, and there is a rod that goes into the neck hole.

Additionally, the arm and hand below the elbow are attached.

8.2in from top of head to chin.

17.7in from the top of the head to the bottom of the chest.

The rod that goes into the neck hole only goes halfway, probably because it has expanded.
