These hinges would be great for renovating an old house that needs some nice vintage hinges to impress anyone
- The 4 1/2 X 4 1/2" size is next to impossible to find
- They are nice and tight and not all worn out like many old bronze hinges
- The hinges are solid bronze
- There is a steel insert bearing and steel pin to prevent wear
- Likely cast in the late 1880's to the early 1900’s
- There are a few small dents from use but no deep gashes in any of the hinges
- I tried to show all dent but polish is hard to photograph
- See photos for exact condition
- They were made by RHCo Reading Hardware Company and is the VASSAR pattern
- A set of vintage polished solid brass screws is included
- These hinges are ready to go and swing for the next 100 years
- The hinges were stripped of all the paint and wire brushed to remove tarnish
- The hinges were not sprayed but were polished with a buffing wheel
- A wax was applied by a buffing wheel
- This is a better finish than a hardware store spray paint
- A buffed wax finish has superior scratch and water resistance
- You will have to maintain it with polish after some time depending on use and humidity
- I handle them with gloves to prevent tarnish
- I left the back of the leaves partly unpolished to show their authenticity. That part will be covered by the jamb or door
- They are 6 1/4" long from tip to tip
- They are 4 1/2" wide laying open
- They are over 1 pound 4 pounces each hinge
