Picked this up at an estate sale and thought it was a neat old military toy.
I am not 100% sure of the exact maker or year, but based on construction and the JAPAN marking, I believe this is a vintage Japanese-made military cannon/howitzer toy, likely mid-century era.
It appears mechanically similar to some Britains artillery toys I found, but since this one is clearly marked JAPAN, I believe it is a Japanese-made version rather than an actual Britains example.
The firing/cocking mechanism does move when pulled back, but it does not release smoothly every time and feels stiff from age. Might just need cleaning/lubrication, but I have not attempted repairs, so selling exactly as found.
The barrel adjustment screw works and raises/lowers the barrel correctly. Wheels roll as they should.
