NEXTRADE OEM PARTS — GAS RANGE & OVEN COMPONENTS
Gas Range / Oven Hot Surface Igniter (7.5 inch)
Genuine Robertshaw OEM — Part No. 41-207 — 41-200 Series Cooking Hot Surface Ignitor
APPLIANCE TECHNICIANS & DIY HOMEOWNERS:
Is your gas oven failing to light, taking too long to ignite, or glowing red but never opening the gas valve? When the hot surface igniter weakens, it can't heat enough to trigger the bimetal safety valve — so even a healthy gas supply never reaches the burner. The fix is a direct OEM Robertshaw 41-207, the original-equipment 7.5" silicon carbide igniter spec'd by major appliance OEMs. Same length, same wattage, same factory mounting — drop-in replacement.

HOW THE HOT SURFACE IGNITER WORKS

The 41-207 is a silicon carbide resistive igniter. When the oven control board calls for heat, it sends 120V AC through the igniter element. The silicon carbide material heats to glowing red-hot temperature (about 2200°F) within 30-60 seconds and stays at that temperature while drawing current.

In oven applications, the igniter sits adjacent to a bimetal gas safety valve. As the igniter heats up, it warms a bimetal strip inside the valve, which physically opens the gas valve seat. Only then does gas flow to the burner orifice — and the same hot igniter immediately lights it. This is the "positive shut-off" design that prevents unburned gas from accumulating.

Failure modes: cracked silicon carbide element (no glow), weakened resistance over time (glows but not hot enough to open the bimetal valve — the most common failure), shorted element (blows the oven fuse), or broken mounting bracket. Replacing the igniter with a genuine Robertshaw 41-207 restores reliable oven ignition.
