An antique Indian enclosed Hindu home shrine finished in a distressed powder blue yellow over dark burgundy underpainting from a previous incarnation.  

Raised deity platform to the interior. Mughal arched detailing to the top pelmet.

This is an authentic old Hindu shrine with associated wear from decades of ritual worship.

 20th c. 

This sacred home shrine comes from Rajasthan. Typically, shrines like this would have graced a high caste Brahmin home, and been the focal point of daily puja, a prayer ritual performed to honour and worship one or more deities. 

This particular example is finished in a distressed powder blue over dark burgundy underpainting from a previous incarnation. The auspicious Hindu and Buddhist symbol of Law, the swastika, together with the Buddha's feet decorate the front platform. IMAGES 4 & 5. The roof and side panels are decorated with Mughal arched detailing.
