The proposed dictionary contains over 154,200 surnames, created by our ancestors starting from the depths of the proto-language and initially recorded since the Middle Ages of Europe and Kievan Rus, when the first documented surnames appeared. The grandiose figure only confirms the cautious statements of linguists that modern Ukrainians have the largest number of surnames among all the peoples of the world. The author suggests that there are over a quarter of a million Ukrainian surnames today!
