Art Nouveau style earthenware pottery vase featuring figural lion handles and beautiful coloring.
This piece displays a rich lavender-purple base with flowing blue drip glaze and raised decorative collar and base. Under 365 UV blacklight, the uranium glaze fluoresces bright neon green on top and bottom rings and lion manes and tails.
Unmarked. The sculptural form with applied figural handles and uranium suggest classic early 1900s (1900-1925) European Art Nouveau design, likely Austrian or Bohemian origin.
In very good antique/vintage condition. Minor crazing which is really not visible unless under UV light. No repairs or chips. Glaze remains bright, colorful and glossy. Measures 8” tall, 7” across and 5” wide. Top rim has a 3” diameter and bottom base measures 4” x 4”. Weighs 1.5 lbs.
Note once again that UV pottery glaze is not UV glass - all ceramics require 365!
