The Real-Life History (The "Survivor" Mopar):
The packaging features the remarkable true backstory of this vehicle. In 1971, Charlotte Motor Speedway ordered two identical, heavily optioned white Charger R/Ts with a factory sunroof, headlight washers, a 440 Magnum motor, and no A/C to act as "rolling billboards" and official pace cars.
While the sister car was unfortunately totaled by a PR team member, this specific "World 600" car survived. It was sold to Steve Howard (nephew of track operator Richard Howard), who drove it daily through college, putting over 105,000 miles on it. Kept in storage until 2010, experts convinced him to preserve it unrestored. Today, it stands as one of the rarest, purest examples of a 1971 Charger "survivor" in existence.
