A bold, industrial‑tinged art‑pop statement, The Big Express finds XTC at their most inventive and rhythmically driven. Originally released in 1984, the album blends clattering percussion, angular guitars and richly layered arrangements, reflecting the band’s Swindon roots and their fascination with mechanical repetition and urban energy.
This 2022 Ape House reissue presents the album on high‑fidelity black vinyl, restored with enhanced clarity while preserving the dense, kinetic character of the original production. A standout in XTC’s 80s catalogue and essential for fans of art‑pop, new wave and experimental rock.
