You’re not looking at another boring 90s commuter. This is a 1992 Subaru SVX — Subaru’s wild shot at building a Japanese grand tourer, and it still turns heads 30+ years later.
Why the SVX is different
That glasshouse: The “aircraft canopy” window-in-window design was mad for 1992. No B-pillars, panoramic visibility, and it still looks futuristic in 2026.
Flat-6 soundtrack: 3.3L EG33 boxer 6-cylinder, 230hp. Smooth, linear, and sounds nothing like a WRX. It’s more GT cruiser than rally hooligan.
JDM oddball cred: Subaru only made ∼25k worldwide. You’ll never park next to another one at Cars & Coffee.

Engine & Driveline: 3.3L flat-6 runs strong, no smoke, no overheating. AWD model — cleaner weight balance for the twisties. 4-speed auto shifts smooth.
Condition: Original paint in [insert color]. Clearcoat’s holding up well for its age. No major rust on sills or arches. Interior is 8/10 — leather seats with typical wear, dash uncracked, all electrics work inc. the power windows and sunroof.

The drive
This thing is a cruiser. Plant your foot and it pulls hard to 7k rpm with that flat-6 howl, but it’s happiest eating up motorway miles at 80mph without breaking a sweat. Steering is heavy, ride is firm, and the visibility over those sloped windows is unreal at night. It’s weird, fast enough, and genuinely comfortable.
The catch
It’s 33 years old, so it’s not perfect. [Mention any small issues: minor paint fade on roof, passenger seat bolster wear, etc.]. Parts aren’t common, but most mechanical bits cross over with the Alcyone/EG33 community and US importers. If you want a plug-and-play Corolla, this isn’t it. If you want something with character, buy it.
