A curious association copy of Emerson's Conduct of Life owned by Sidney George Fisher, a lawyer and poet, known for "The Trial of the Constitution" (a classic commentary on the U.S. Constitution) and his Mount Harmon Diaries; he was also the father to Sydney George Fisher, who was also a lawyer, known for his book, "The True History of the American Revolution."
First edition of Emerson's classic, from 1860, with copious notes in pencil made by Fisher. There is some wear from age with fraying to the cloth binding along the edges and some weakening to the inner hinges. Perhaps some light bowing to the boards. See pictures for a closer look!
