World’s Funniest Coin, Belgian Waffle, Not EDIBLE, Belgium Waffled 1996 1 Frank

Belgian Waffle Coin, Not EDIBLE, Funny Pun Belgium Waffled 1996 1 Franc

The World’s Funniest (and Punniest) Coin?

Every coin collection should have a Belgian Waffle, the coin, not the dish If puns are the highest form of humor (as my dad often claimed), then Belgian Waffles are the world’s funniest coin. You can’t eat them with maple syrup but you can use them to elicit giggles and groans from your friends and family.

What are waffled coins?

Waffled coins are uncirculated mint cancelled coins that have been stripped of their legal tender value. They begin life as error coins, accidentally created with some kind of defect, or are part of an inventory that is no longer needed or valid. To keep them from entering circulation, waffled coins are given their distinct wavy shape at the mint or at a location designated by the mint. Coins are waffled or cancelled by mints around the world, including the US Mint.

Are all waffles errors?

Waffling by itself does not technically make a coin an error coin as it is an intentional process, but waffles are sold in the Coin Error Category for two reasons. They often start life as errors and because there is currently no eBay category for Mint Cancelled Coins.

Waffled US and world coins are interesting collectibles with a growing base of fans, but only the Belgian waffle is both a waffle and a deliciously hilarious pun!

My Seller FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):

It is helpful to read this because sellers are allowed some customization within their seller policies.

Allergy Note: All lots come from a smoke free and cat free home but pre-owned items may have originated in different conditions.

Discounted Shipping: USA shipping only. I am happy to discount shipping on multiple purchases of similar weight if you message me to request a discounted invoice after your last auction concludes but before payment is sent. Please make this request through your “cart” or the eBay messaging system within 72 hours of the first win. Multiple large fragile items are not usually subject to this option because they often have to ship in separate boxes.

Shipping and Return Policy: I can only ship to your official eBay address within the USA (the address that shows up when a seller looks at your eBay ID or tries to send you an invoice), no exceptions.

I ship twice a week, usually on Monday and Thursday so shipping can take up to four days from the time of payment. Please bear this in mind, as well as the post office transit time estimates, when looking at arrival dates.

You will always receive a tracking number from the eBay shipping system. Oklahoma residents and the residents of most other states are always subject to sales tax.

In more than 25 years, my return policy has not changed. All sales are final - no returns or refunds unless there is a serious question of authenticity or a gross error in the description. Refunds are not available for differences regarding banknote, coin and medal grading opinions.

Payment Reminder: eBay automatically opens a non-paying bidder (NPB) case when payment fails to arrive within the required period. After three days, the transaction is automatically cancelled. I have received angry emails from slow-paying buyers who have no idea that the process is automatic, hence, this reminder.

ABOUT FEEDBACK: My top priorities are answering email, writing accurate descriptions and the fastest possible shipping for my schedule. Feedback is important but not my priority. I leave feedback only once or twice a month in large groups to save time.
