Figure set description:
- This is a model set of the WW2 M114 Howitzer Artillery (nicknamed the 'Mule') with 6 US Army soldier figures (unpainted).
- The model set highlights the mechanical engineering required to lob 95 pound projectiles over long distances.
- Split-Trail Carriage: The howitzer is shown in its firing configuration with the trails spread wide to form a stable triangular base.
- Recoil and Barrel: The barrel is set within a heavy cradle featuring a prominent hydro-pneumatic recoil system, designed to reset the gun instantly after the massive shock of a discharge.
- Breech Assembly: The breech is modeled in the open position, revealing the loading tray where the shell and powder bags are inserted.
- Stability Spades: At the end of the trails, the heavy steel spades are dug into the ground to prevent the 13,000lb weapon from shifting during its firing cycle.
- Mobility: The carriage features large dual pneumatic tires with aggressive combat treads, which allowed the "Mule" to be towed through deep mud and uneven terrain by heavy prime movers.
Notes on the figures:
- These are 1/72 scale figures and are small but detailed, please see picture with ruler measurement.
- These figures are unpainted and please note that there are no stands: please use mounting putty for temporary set-up or PVA glue for permanent placing.
- They are made from high quality resin.
- They are scaled to actual dimensions of 'real world' scenes depicting various actions and can be placed alongside 1/72 scale auxillary models (like planes or buildings) or within a diorama set-up.
- Resins may be affected by temperature during transport, resulting in bending or warping. If affected, you can place them in hot water (80 degrees) for a few seconds and then slowly, gently bend them back to shape.
