A highly decorative pair of Vietnamese Ink and wash paintings on rice paper. Saigon School, by the French Orientalist painter Bulyoz.  Dating to the mid-20th c, and presented in later frames.  

These Vietnamese ink and wash on rice paper paintings were also known as oriental brush paintings. Celebrating daily life, they showed women in conical hats, known as nón lá, marketplaces, village houses and bamboo and the like.   The use of quick brush lines in black ink with touches of occasional red very characteristic of mid-20th c Vietnamese export art. 

Dating to the mid-20th c, (circa 1950 - 1970), they were particularly sought after by French and American visitors to Vietnam during that era.

The artist of this pair of ink wash paintings is a French Orientalist named Bulyoz. The red seal is a square with two stacked characters within, reveals the the name of this artist as Wang Yu, roughly translated at Jade King, accompanied by the brush signature Bulyoz. This suggests the artist had a pseudonym seal carved to lend authenticity to his work, but the Western signature is the true identifier.
