Vintage hand-carved and hand-painted folk art game bird decoy / bird carving, attributed to Les Oberly, Minnesota, c. 1945, based on the label attached underneath.


This piece has a long pheasant-style body and tail, detailed hand-painted feather markings, glass eyes, and wrapped metal legs and feet. It has strong folk art character and a great early handmade look.


Measurements:

Approx. 20 inches long x 3 3/4 inches wide


Condition:

Shows age, wear, paint wear, scuffs, and surface wear throughout. There is damage/loss to the beak, as shown in the photos. Metal legs and feet show age, oxidation, and wear. Label underneath reads: “Carved By: Les Oberly Minnesota, ca. 1945.”
