Antique Illinois Watch Co. pocket watch with 17 jewel Grade 255 movement and gold filled A.W.C. Co. “Cashier” case.

Movement serial number 1893657 dates this Illinois movement to an estimated production year of 1906. The movement is a size 12s, 17 jewel, open face, nickel finish, pendant-set movement. Serial lookup identifies it as Grade 255, Model 1, 3/4 plate, not adjusted, and not railroad grade.

The dial is private labeled / retailer signed “Claringbowl, Hamilton Ont.” This appears on the dial face and is separate from the Illinois Watch Co. movement marking.

Condition:

Used antique condition. Case presents very well overall with strong gold tone and attractive textured back. The main visible brass wear-through noted is on the crown area; otherwise the case appears very clean for age. Crystal is present but cloudy/hazy. Dial shows age-related wear/marks, including visible discoloration near the left side of the dial. Case, bow, crown, dial, crystal, and movement show normal age/storage/handling wear.

Testing:

Watch has not been serviced or tested for long-term timekeeping accuracy. Mechanical pocket watches may require cleaning, adjustment, or service for regular use.
