This is a vintage 80s "Sesquicentennial" solid pewter commemorative decorative open-mouthed stein tankard. Measures 6" tall. Please note that the pewter has developed natural superficial tarnish and weathering with age (see photos); it is otherwise fine and visually quite striking.

The piece is made from solid pewter metal and bears a wonderfully-detailed 3D patterning on every part of the exterior, including the handle. The outer faces of the mug have nautical and geographical vignettes representative of persons and events of note in British history. At the bottom is an embossed maker's mark from the Royal Geographical Society.

Due to its metallic nature, this stein is incredibly heavy and sturdy (it weighs over 3.5lbs by itself!!) and would serve quite well as a paperweight or utensil holder in addition to being decorative.

Hand crafted in the United Kingdom in 1980 by the Royal Geographical Society to commemorate the organization's sesquicentennial anniversary. Wipe With Damp Cloth To Clean.
