A wonderful 18th century galleon topped cast, solid silver spoon by the Dutch maker Albertus Antonius Roosewinkel (fl. 1771-1812). The spoon is dot engraved to the bowl edge with the name Anna Ulbes IS. - ?6?? -1755 the earlier date is difficult to read and unclear. (Please see photographs). Above the A for Anna is a scratch number 38.

The spoon has the guild mark of AR for Albertus Antonius Rooswinkel, Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. (1771-1812) at the base of the rat tail.

Size - Approximately from the tip of the mast to the tip of the bowl is 7 inches. 

Size - Approximately from the widest part of the bowl is 1 3/4 inches across. 

Weight - 58.2g

In Dutch, Herinneringslepel, Gelegenheidslepel or Sierlepel is translated as commemorative spoon or ornamental spoon in English. These spoons were created to be given as celebratory gifts to commemorate special occasions, weddings, births, specific funerals or events of historic importance. Often the spoon may be engraved with names and dates pertaining to the recipient or the occasion to which it commemorates. As is the above example.   

The spoon has retained some of its gilt wash to the bowl, the stem and the galleon are cast and are in overall good condition.

Wear commensurate with age.
