A new Buddhist moon circular plaque, finished in a red, green and gold colour palette. A companion piece to sun plaques also available. TWO AVAILABLE.

As the major luminaries of our world system, the sun and moon are two of the most important polarity symbols in Vajrayana Buddhism. To devotees, they are steeped in meaning.

The sun symbolises the complete brightness of mind, with darkness, a metaphor for ignorance, expelled. Crude and subtle deceptions dissolve. Sunlight also energises and clarifies.

Moonlight is bright and cooling, symbolising the coolness of Nirvana and the clarity of a stable, compassionate mind. It's also a symbol for pacifying energy.

A golden or red sun, as here, represents the feminine aspect of wisdom. The moon, the male aspect of method and compassion.

Although this Buddhist plaque is new, it has been produced in a time-honoured fashion using skills handed down from generation to generation of Nepalese craftsmen. The very act of creating religious artefacts  an act of devotion in itself.

This exquisite, hand-decorated plaque has been sourced from Kathmandu in Nepal. A significant artefact from the roof of the world. Companion sun plaques are available in a separate listing.

Please look carefully at the photographs as they form part of the description.
