Product Description
Common Symptoms Indicating the Need to Replace a Stepper Motor
Pointer Sticking or Failing to Return to Zero: After the engine is turned off, the pointer does not return to zero, or after startup, it remains at an incorrect position for an extended period (e.g., the tachometer displays several thousand RPM while the engine is actually idling normally)
Pointer Jittering, Jumping, or Sluggish Response: The pointer fails to smoothly track actual parameter changes, exhibiting slight vibrations or delays
Pointer Completely Stuck: For example, the fuel gauge or coolant temperature gauge remains at zero or a fixed value even when vehicle operating parameters have changed
Instruments emit abnormal noises: Such as “squeaking” or “ticking” sounds, often caused by internal wear or looseness in the stepper motor
Multiple instruments malfunction simultaneously: If multiple pointers exhibit abnormal behavior in sync, it may be due to aging of a shared drive circuit or multiple stepper motors; each must be checked individually
