David Morrisseau, born in 1961 in Red Lake, Ontario,
Canada, is a prominent Canadian Indigenous artist of Ojibwe heritage. As the
eldest son of the celebrated painter Norval Morrisseau, David's artistic
journey is deeply intertwined with his familial legacy, drawing inspiration
from both his father and his grandfather, David Kakegamic. Morrisseau's work
primarily explores themes rooted in Anishinaabe culture, often incorporating
elements of indigenous spirituality, mythology, and symbolist themes.
