Authentic Vintage Tribal Anatolian Sivas Rug – Hand-Knotted Wool on Wool
This stunning piece is a genuine hand-woven "Yastık" (pillow face) from the Sivas region of Central Anatolia, dating back approximately 90 to 100 years. Despite its age, it remains a collector-grade item with a vibrant soul and remarkable craftsmanship.
Design & Motifs: The rug features a classic triple-medallion layout, a signature of traditional Anatolian tribal weaving. The central diamond medallion is framed by intricate geometric patterns. You can observe the "Eli Belinde" (Hands on Hips) and "Koçboynuzu" (Ram's Horn) motifs subtly integrated into the borders and medallions, symbolizing fertility, protection, and strength. The architectural symmetry of the design reflects the disciplined yet artistic weaving tradition of the Sivas nomads.
Colors: The palette is dominated by rich, deep madder reds and vibrant fuchsias, achieved through traditional natural dyes. The central medallion stands out with a warm, sun-kissed orange-yellow, providing a perfect contrast to the dark chocolate brown outlines. These earthy tones, combined with the bold reds, give the rug a timeless aesthetic that fits both traditional and modern bohemian interiors.
