This is the plugpal classic car brake light pressure switch relay, to enable your classic car’s brake lights to shine as bright as they can and also so protect against poor quality pressure switch components.
Modern components for classic cars can leave a lot to be desired when it comes to quality of construction and longevity of usefulness. One of these areas is the switches used in the braking systems to illuminate the brake lights when the pedal is pressed. With the changes in bulb technology, it is entirely feasible that a greater draw of power is being passed through the switches, causing them to fail far earlier than should be expected.
The plugpal classic car brake light pressure switch relay alleviates those issues by taking the full load away from the pressure switch and allowing a relay to do the hard work of passing the current, the pressure switch just being required to pass enough power to activate the relay. The product is designed to either use the power already being supplied to the switch and divert it to the relay using the piggyback spade connection or to take its own 12v supply directly to the relay using the supplied extension lead.
Installation instructions are attached to the Product Documents section below this description in the auction listing.
Please note this is for a relay solution that is designed to connect to a pressure switch with male spade terminals. If you require a relay solution that is designed to connect to a switch activated directly by the brake pedal such as the BHA4675 and is fitted with 4.7mm Lucas bullet connectors, please consider my other listings.
As with all plugpal products, this item is assembled using quality components, the connections being crimped where appropriate, not soldered (due to the risk of stress fracturing of certain connections in environments with large amounts of vibration, such as automotive applications) and waterproofed using heatshrink and covers.
