Etched on to the front and back with Scottish thistle Beautifully engraved, the cartouche is  engraved with the word Mizpah, this etching is repeated on the back and the cartouche is blank.
Mizpah is a Hebrew word that means watchtower, and is loosely interpreted as "May the Lord watch between you and me when we are absent from each other".' During the Victorian era, the practice of engraving rings and other types of jewelry with the word “MIZPAH” grew in popularity.

This is dated to around 1890-1914, Mizpah It represents a bond between two people that will remain unbroken despite being separated by distance or time.
