c.1960 Yamaha Dynamic Guitar No.2 – Hand Crafted in Japan | All Solid | Very Rare | Hard Case | Beautiful Nitro Checking
The Yamaha Dynamic Guitar No.2 is a rare and fascinating early Japanese instrument from around 1960, built during Yamaha’s early Nippon Gakki era.
The Dynamic Guitar series is an important part of Yamaha history, designed as a unique crossover between classical and steel-string guitars. One of its most distinctive features is that it can be used with both nylon strings and light steel strings, which makes it especially unusual and collectible today. The metal saddle is another characteristic detail of this early design.
This example is all solid, hand crafted in Japan, and increasingly hard to find — especially in such honest vintage condition with a hard case included. The tone is dry, open, woody, and full of vintage character.
The action measures approximately 3.0mm on the Low E and 2.75mm on the High E at the 12th fret, making it very comfortable for a guitar of this age.
A particularly beautiful feature of this guitar is the natural nitro checking across the finish. These lacquer lines have developed naturally over many decades and are highly appreciated by vintage guitar lovers. Many modern relic guitars even try to recreate this look artificially — but on this guitar, it is completely authentic.
