About Fraser's Highlanders: The 71st (Highland) Regiment of Foot is one of the most storied British units of the American Revolution. Raised in 1775 by Lieutenant-General Simon Fraser (Master of Lovat) — the same man who had raised the famous 78th Foot, Fraser's Highlanders of the French and Indian War — the regiment drew on a core of veteran officers and men from Glasgow, Stirling, and Inverness. They arrived in New York in July 1776 and compiled a remarkable combat record throughout the war: the Battle of Long Island, the capture of Fort Washington, the Philadelphia Campaign (Brandywine and Billingsport), the raid on Danbury, Connecticut (1777), and the southern campaign at Cowpens, Guilford Courthouse, and Green Springs. The 2nd Battalion marched to Yorktown, Virginia, where they were among the 242 officers and men (of 560 raised) who surrendered to Washington on October 19, 1781. After the Peace Treaty, General Fraser died in 1782, and the entire regiment was reunited in Scotland and disbanded in 1783.
Condition Notes: Complete and intact — musket present and in place. Dark aged patina typical of the K/S Pewter series. Box retains its original bubble wrap packing. Please review all photos carefully before purchasing.
