original Genre oil painting on wood panel, likely from England and dating to the late 1700s or early 1800s -- English romantic style -- -- wonderful lightly risque image of a young bare-foot peasant girl in her finest attire holding something in a bag while a Marquise like gentleman holds out what looks like a money bag, while sitting on his black horse -- even more curiously, she is winking at the viewer -- a rather delightful scene with the deep forest behind them and a castle off in the distance -- there appears to be a signature below her feet but I cannot make it out --
-- the panel measures 11 3/4 by 14 in. -- --
-- good color but heavy craquelure with a pronounced wood knot showing through by the castle / a few small nicks -- the panel has likely been trimmed top and bottom -- could use cleaning as with most estate find paintings -- frame is a little dusty, but otherwise is in nice condition --
