Antique Sterling Silver Mizpah Ring – Birmingham Hallmarked (c.1894) Size M 1/2.

This is a beautiful piece of Victorian sentimental jewellery: a solid sterling silver Mizpah ring. These rings were traditionally exchanged between loved ones or friends as a symbol of a lasting bond during periods of separation. The word "Mizpah" translates from Hebrew to "Watchtower," referencing the biblical sentiment: "The Lord watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another."

The band features the characteristic bold, raised lettering across the face, with the word "MIZPAH" clearly visible in an elegant antique script. MIZPAH is separated by a beautiful shamrock/four leaf clover ☘️ likely symbolising added fortune for the wearer.

This ring boasts a full set of British hallmarks on the interior:

Maker’s Mark: P&T – Attributed to a known Birmingham silversmith of the era. Possibly Pearce & Thompson.

Standard Mark: Lion Passant – Guaranteed .925 high-grade sterling silver.

Assay Office: Anchor – Hallmarked in Birmingham, the historic heart of the British jewellery trade.

Date Letter: U – Set in a gothic/blackletter font, dating this piece to circa 1894 (Late Victorian).

This ring is in fair, antique condition. A repair has been made inside of the band (historically), but the ring structure remains sound. Please check the photos.
