What is a Feve?
A "fève" is a small, hidden trinket or figurine, traditionally placed in a king cake (galette des rois) or similar dessert for Epiphany Day Celebrations. The French word "fève" literally translates to "bean," and in the past, a broad bean was actually hidden in the cake. Today, fèves are often made of porcelain and can depict various themes, including religious symbols, pop culture figures, or even depictions of famous people.
The person who finds the fève in their slice of cake is often crowned king or queen for the day and may receive special privileges or gifts. Fèves have also become popular collector's items.
