Near-fine book with the very tiniest crease to foot of spine, with binding square and firm, and pages clean and uninscribed. In the matching slipcase that is a little shelf-worn and dinged around the opening. A lovely copy.
The tale of an ageing English butler reflecting on a life of service, loyalty, and missed opportunities during a postwar journey through the countryside. First published in 1989, 'The Remains of the Day' won the Booker Prize and remains one of Ishiguro’s most celebrated works. It was later adapted into an acclaimed 1993 film starring Anthony Hopkins as Mr James Stevens and Emma Thompson as Miss Kenton.
