An important sculptural cast copper vase by Fuminori Haruyama (b.1945), a Japanese artist and sculptor known for his refined modern metalwork.<ZN60>
Haruyama studied at Tokyo University of the Arts and is recognized as a significant figure in Japanese contemporary craft and sculpture. According to published artist biographies, he studied under Shugoro Hasuda, one of Japan’s leading modern metal artists.
This work has a strong architectural presence, with a bold geometric body, subtle incised lines, and softly curved planes. Although made as a vase, it carries the quiet strength of an abstract sculpture.
The deep dark brown patina and textured surface give the piece a restrained, dignified character. A fine example of Japanese modern metal art.
