A rare vintage silver plate dance purse from the 1920s - 30s with Art Deco Styling, a chain handle, and leather interior compartments.
This is a vintage silverplate evening purse, dating to the 1920s–1930s, with a classic kiss-lock clasp and a chain handle. Pieces like this were often referred to as “dance purses,” designed to carry just the essentials.

The exterior features a softly domed oval panel framed by a delicate beaded border, giving it a clean, understated look that sits right between late Art Nouveau and early Art Deco styling. It has a short chain with a finger ring, allowing it to be carried easily in the hand or looped over the wrist.

Inside, the purse is lined in rich brown leather with accordion-style compartments, making it surprisingly practical for coins, folded bills, or small personal items. The interior remains in very good condition, with the leather still supple and well-preserved.

The silverplate shows light surface wear consistent with age, which only adds to its vintage character. The clasp closes securely, and the overall structure is sound.

A charming and functional piece from the early 20th century, equally appealing to collectors or for occasional use. These charming decorative pieces are becoming harder to find, especially in good condition.
