This is a Rut Niblick made by Charles Forrest around 1880 1890. C. Forrest was a well known club maker from East Berkshire.
The club is in excellent condition and while the grip is worn it is a good example of an original period grip.
The maker's name is stamped on the head and is very legible. See photo

This is a very early club as evidenced by the very small dementions of the head and face. The face is a very small 2 inches high and 2 1/4 inches long. Hosel is 4 inches long and very heavy and thick. The diameter of the hosel is a thick 3/4 inch and club length is 37 inches.

This is a classic Rut Niblick in all respects which has had all rust removed to prevent further damage.

Rut Niblicks replaced Rut Irons between 1885 and 1900. Niblicks replaced Rut Niblicks around 1910.

Clubs very similar to this are featured in the book " Antique Collectibles " by Chuck Furjanic,
and are valued between $ 500. and $ 1200

I'm listing this club for $ 399.
