This collection may be one of the more significant finds for me. In 1909, Frank C Clark Cruise around the world on the S.S. Cleveland left New York. Stops included Italy, Egypt, India, Ceylon, Burma, Java, Borneo. The Philippines, China, and Japan. 2 of the passengers on the trip were Thomas and Mary Peabody. The Peabodys were very well known in my little town as a furniture manufacturing magnate. They took original photos around the world on their trip. They them put them on Magic lantern slides measuring nearly 4"x4". To my knowledge they've not been reproduced anywhere. Photos of natives, landmarks, ships, etc. I will be listing these slides at auction now! Each Slide has a small snippet from a presentation they gave to our small town on their trip. I will include the snippet in the photos so you can read, and will include a copy of the note with the Slide. There are over 170 Magic lantern slides, and I will try to list as many as I can. They will be ending every 2 minutes, on Sunday August 17th, ending at NOON 12:00 Eastern. Each Slide will be $4.50 to ship, and each additional Slide will be $1.00. I have a very cheap light box, and a white piece of paper to diffuse it. The slides are all clear and crisp. The "INFLIP" is a watermark written on the paper, obviously not the slide. Any smudges or dots are due to my amateur photography skills, and not the slides. The light im using has black dots, and they sometimes show through the slide. I have 2 photo albums of these photos, so if you'd like to see the corresponding photo, feel free to ask. If you have any questions, or would like more information feel free to contact me. Good luck, and happy bidding!
The description of these slides are all the same, to be able to get as many listed as I can. The title and photos will be different. "PEABODY MAGIC LANTERN SLIDE" in the ebay search or my seller search bar should populate all I have up.
