This is a natural finishing stone from the Suita layer, produced from Shohonyama, known as a traditional whetstone producing area in Kyoto. Suita is known for its layered structure, easily producing slurry, and offering an excellent balance of softness and sharpening power. It has a slightly hard stone quality and provides a slightly soft and moist sharpening feel with fine abrasive grains, gently preparing the steel and firmly finishing the edge for a natural, uniform finish. This versatile finishing stone is suitable for final finishing of knives, tools, razors, and planes, and has good compatibility with Nagura stones for stable sharpening.
