Style: The work belongs to the artist's 'Paper Quilt' series, which Garant produced between 1980 and 1990. These works typically feature bold, geometric abstract compositions with sharp, "hard-edge" lines and a diverse color palette of blacks, maroons, magentas, and yellows.

Biography: 

Jeanne Garant (American, b. 1946)

Jeanne Garant is an artist known for her abstract expressionism and printmaking. She was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, and studied at Rivier College, Nashua; George Mason University, Fairfax County, Virginia, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976; Northern Virginia Community College; the Art League School, Alexandria, Virginia; and the Corcoran School of Art, Washington, D.C. 

Her work has been exhibited widely at venues including the National Collage Society, Cleveland, Ohio; Sharon Arts Center, Peterborough, New Hampshire; Printmakers Exchange Exhibit, Belfast, Northern Ireland and Dublin, Ireland; National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland; and the Art Expo, New York City. Garant has a studio in the Torpedo Factory Art Center, Alexandria, Virginia, and lives in Arlington, Virginia.
