Two very rare Horace Roye photography books. Titled ‘Unique Editors. Printed for ‘Private circulation’ circa 1940.
Complete set of volume one and two. Roye set up a mail order company in the 1940s during the war. It’s likely that this set was mail order only.
The introduction is written by Roye and appears in both books. He stresses images of the female form are ‘art’ and, ‘ if it departs from convention in the Swindon magistrates (burn Boccaccio’s Decameron) sense, blame nature herself’.
The images are printed on a glossy paper and retain their original tissue guards.
