This locomotive features the classic #638 cab numbering and is characteristic of the popular sets produced by Bachmann and Tyco during the late 1970s and early 1980s. I have owned this piece since childhood (circa 1979-1982) and am now offering it for a new layout or collection.

Condition & Testing Summary (Tested May 2026):

• Operational Status: Track-tested and confirmed RUNNING. The motor is functional, and the wheels and linkage move freely.

• Lights: The front headlight was tested and is WORKING.

• Performance Note: During testing, the engine required intermittent "tapping" to maintain consistent electrical contact. This typically suggests the track, wheels, or internal pickups require a standard cleaning or tuning to ensure 100% smooth operation.

• Smoke Feature: I recall this being a smoking unit in the past. While the internal components are present, it has not been tested with smoke oil recently and is sold with the smoke feature unverified.

• Visuals: Good vintage condition with surface wear consistent with age. Please refer to the pictures for a detailed look at the drive wheels and linkage.
