Function
-The purpose of the transfer switch is to connect a standby power source (such as a portable generator) to the circuits within a house or building that are connected to the mains electricity supply.
-It is designed to enable the building's wiring system to withstand the full power output of the portable generator, thereby supplying multiple electrical appliances during a power outage.
-This switch ensures safe utilisation of backup power during outages without risking reverse power flow to the public grid.
-In emergencies where shutting off the main power supply may prove impractical, the transfer switch eliminates this requirement.

Circuit wires are clearly labelled for swift connection to the distribution box. Each circuit is fitted with both red and black wires. The red wire connects to the existing circuit breaker within the main distribution box, whilst the black wire connects to the load wire for that circuit via a terminal cap.
The large three-position switch employs a lamp-switch-style toggle design for controlling domestic appliances. When mains power is supplied normally, the switch typically remains in the ‘Mains’ position. Should mains power fail, simply toggle the switch to the ‘Generator’ position to activate generator supply.
