The HLW8032 module utilises a high-precision energy metering IC manufactured using CMOS technology. Primarily designed for single-phase applications, it measures line voltage and current, and calculates active power, apparent power and power factor. Data is output via a serial port (fixed baud rate of 4800 bps). AC 220V voltage input and output.
Connect the serial port module to 5V-TX-GND (with RX connected to the board’s TX), connect the input to a 220V power supply, and connect the output to a 220V electrical load. Then plug the serial port module into the computer; you will notice the LED flashing rapidly, indicating that sampled data is being transmitted. At this point, open the host computer application “HLW8032_V1.2.exe”, select the correct port number (must be between COM1 and COM16), set the maximum current to the default 10A, and click to open the port. The host computer will then display the sampled data.
