She is an English wax over composition shoulder plate head doll with a wig cap - not a slit head - and the remains of brown real hair.

She has black pupil less glass eyes.  

The wax on her face is dark with age and quite a bit of loss on one side, the wax on the shoulder plate also has loss and crazing.  A chemise type garment has been stitched in place to help preserve whats there - this looks to have been done a very long time ago.  Her body is stuffed fabric, her lower arms are leather with separately stitched fingers and thumbs.

She is dressed in stockings, long 'split' drawers, petticoat with cotton top and flannel skirt and a almost knee length chemise.

With all her faults she has a sweet and charming expression, and she sits well.
