2000 Japanese Pokémon Neo Premium File 2 — Charizard #006 Promo Reverse Foil | PSA 10 GEM MINT
PSA cert #144860941. An absolute centrepiece piece of Japanese Pokémon history, awarded the highest possible grade.
🌀 Swirl present on the bottom left of the card.
For collectors who know, the swirl is a much-coveted quirk of the cosmos holofoil pattern — a concentrated circular formation in the foil that many consider one of the most desirable cosmetic features a vintage Japanese card can have. This one is clearly visible and a genuine bonus for any serious collector.
About the Card & Its Origin
This is one of the rarest and most historically significant Charizard cards in existence. This card was one of nine unnumbered promotional cards available in the Premium File 2, which was initially sold at participating cinemas showing Spell of the Unown: Entei from July 8, 2000, followed by a general release on August 5, 2000. In other words, to own one of these originally, you had to be in Japan watching a Pokémon movie in the summer of 2000. That backstory alone makes it extraordinary.
All cards in the Premium File 2 feature a Cosmos Reverse Holofoil treatment — the stunning sparkling foil pattern that covers the entire card outside of the artwork window, giving it that deep, galaxy-like shimmer that catches light beautifully from every angle.
Never Released in English
While most cards from the Premium Files were eventually released in English, Charizard and Eevee from Premium File 2 were never released in English — making this the only way to add this specific Charizard to your collection. Why Wizards of the Coast never brought one of the most iconic Pokémon of all time to English audiences in this form remains a mystery to this day, but it makes this Japanese exclusive all the more desirable.
The Card Itself
Illustrated by Ken Sugimori — the original creator of Pokémon’s art direction — this card features Charizard in full fiery glory with 120HP and the classic Fire Spin attack. The artwork on the Japanese back reads “Pocket Monsters Card Game,” a distinctly nostalgic design that sets it apart from any English equivalent.
A PSA 10 of this card is an exceptional result. Clean, flawless, historic — and with a swirl. There aren’t many boxes left to tick.
