A beautiful early 19th century Derby porcelain dessert plate with a large octagonal central vignette painted by Thomas Steele. A large array of fruit, spilling from a basket set on a marble slab, superbly painted, and edged in gilt.  A very fine gilt arabesque border runs around the edge of the plate. Red painted mark to the base and the number for gilder 36. c.1820.

It measures 21.8cm (8 5/8") wide and 3.4cm (1 3/8") high.

In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration. The surface is finely crazed as is usual. Very minor handling wear and no discolouration. The gilding on the rim has been lightly retouched to a very high standard and displays superbly.
