  • Description: A nice vintage carpenter's plane. This wood working plane has a steel body, a wooden handle, and a painted wooden knob in the front. The handle is lacquered and has a nice reddish-brown finish while the knob is painted with a gray coloring. The plane appears to be complete and intact. It is marked "MADE IN USA" both on the body of and on the blade. Unfortunately, the plane is not marked as to the name of the maker. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

  • Date: Early to mid 20th century

  • Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Lancaster Pennsylvania.

  • Size: Measures ~9 3/8" long, ~2 3/8" wide and is 4 3/8" high to the top of the handle. The piece weighs over 2 pounds and 6 ounces.

  • Maker: Unknown.

  • Marks: Unmarked as to the maker but stamped on the base and the blade "MADE IN USA".

  • Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a very nice old tool that is in excellent condition. It is truly vintage and would make a great addition to your collection.

  • Condition: It is in excellent used condition, with no breaks, cracks, repairs or losses. It does have some general wear to the finish on the handle and some loss of paint at the knob, all of these can be seen in the photos. The piece shows some minor signs of oxidation, which can be seen in the photos. In general the surface oxidation is at the plate and the nut holding the blade. This really is inconsequential and the piece is solid and in fine shape. The piece also has some scratches and wear commensurate with its age and utilitarian function.   • In Closing: This is a very nice plane in excellent condition given its age and utilitarian function. It would make a great addition to your collection.
