The oval shape works by maximising the part of the pedal stroke where you produce power and reducing resistance through the dead spot. On climbs this translates to a smoother, more consistent torque delivery - less lurching, better traction, and less stress on the knees. The narrow-wide tooth profile eliminates chain drop without needing a chain guide.

The 28T oval has a dimple on the inner circumference instead of the triangle mark used on larger sizes. This dimple must align with the crank arm and be visible to you during installation. Mounting hole recesses face the crank tabs.
